What is Ping Resonation? & How Does It Affect Your Cymbal Color. If you were like me when you were a kid, on the weekends I (Dudley J. Taw) used to love to walk along railroad tracks. I learned to put my ear to the tracks and listen for the train. You could hear the sound of a train from miles away. Ping resonation is the same theory! The cymbal would be the train wheels and the stacking system the tracks. Great for listening for trains but a disaster for cymbal stacking systems. When you strike the cymbal the sound travels down the adapter and through the stand distorting the sound. NOT GOOD! One of the reasons our adapters are different from the rest is that the construction of these products stops this problem. We use an insulation spacer on the top of the adapter where the cymbal sits and the product is made from aluminum, a “dead metal” to stop the ping resonation. Result....the color of the cymbal is intact and clear. Very important! Drummers purchase certain cymbals for their unique sound – why place it on a stand or adapter that will change that sound?
